Snopes (Urban Legends) Remember when you could actually
USE Snopes and not get bombed with pop ups? Kiss those days
goodbye. I'm looking for other means to find out about rumors on the web.
They sure trashed this site. I tried this program for about a month, then suddenly I could see mail in the program, but I wasn't able to receive it in my email client. I tried everything I could think of.. Wrote the support team some rather curt emails, and finally gave up. I uninstalled this program thinking it was criminal they charged as much as they do. Well, this is my formal apology to the Mail washer pro support team. I logged onto web mail and there was all that mail that I was not able to receive. All of it on the server.. I called my ISP, and went thru all my settings and guess what?? Some of the information in there was corrupt. Just not something I thought of to check.. I checked my incoming and outgoing mail server settings before, but the port number was changed.. Go figure. I automatically made the assumption that it was the fault of my last program installed that related to my email. Because this port setting corrupted after I installed Mail Washer Pro, I did not realize until AFTER I uninstalled Mail Washer Pro that mail was not functioning properly, even without it. I have reinstalled the program. As far as I can tell, the program does exactly what it says it will do.. I do think it is a little bit high priced, but then again I paid that high price. Not all the filters work in Outlook Express. I really wanted to stop the spam. I believe this program will do it. Check it our for yourself at http://www.mailwasher.net/ You can download a free trial so give it a shot if you are fed up with garbage in your mailbox. Darla |

http://www.wundercounter.com This has got to be one of the most comprehensive stat trackers out there. Not only do you get regular stats and fast, professional, courteous service from Olaf, the Site owner/administrator, and his excellent staff, you also get the country hits, how many pages your visitors view, 'sticky pages' reports, monitor resolution, invisible counters (with paid services), monthly summaries, hits by hour, week month, etc. If you need a stat tracker, this it the one to have. I have used a number of stat trackers. This one is by far the most inclusive and easiest to understand of any I have seen. I swiped the WunderCounter logo off Olaf's site so you would immediately recognize it, but the link is above and here too. http://www.wundercounter.com I give this an excellent rating. To my knowledge there is none better available, and the tech support is superb. At the very least, if you need a stat tracker, try them. Olaf offers a free trial so be sure to check this one out. Visioneer One Touch Scanner/Fax -
a PaperPort Product Ok, it's not a web site but you have to know about this product. I purchased this scanner fax machine because I knew that doing international business I needed one.. A single page cost me $7.00 US to send to New Zealand.... I bought a scanner/fax machine so I would not have to run all the way into town from out here in the boonies and pay $7 for every page.. All set.... right......... WRONG. Now I need the fax capability, but Paper Port does not support their own product .. well, they will IF YOU PAY THEM to get it to work. This product does not even have instructions to set up to send a fax. nor does it tell you how to set it up to receive a fax. I will be looking for another fax machine.. but you can bet I will not consider a PaperPort product ever again Their so called help section is a run around between the help and technical section, back and forth with no help in sight.. They do not allow you to send an email for technical support.. so you are stuck with a machine that won't work, or an increase in the price to get it to work... I am disgusted. Darla |

| This is well
worth reading if you want to keep your choices free.
(Darla) Letter From the Publisher: Journal of
Longevity Both here and abroad, powerful forces are seeking to ban many valuable herbs used as natural medicines for centuries. These forces would like to regulate basic, natural supplements as strictly as drugs. As a first step, they are setting extremely low "upper-safety" limits for vitamins and minerals. Think about it. These products are already safe (safer than food and far safer than prescription drugs, which cause the deaths of at least 110,000 Americans every year). Can you imagine having to go to the doctor to ask for a prescription for vitamin C? And beyond paying the doctor, you’d also have to pay drug-high prices for your vitamins! Health consumers who know that good nutrition is the key to prevention need to fight back. This fight will be similar to the 1994 battle for the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), the legislation that protects our free access to supplements, only now it must be waged globally. Right now there is a movement afoot in Europe that could affect us here, in America. Meetings of the Codex Alimentarius, a United Nations body that sets standards for foods and supplements, have been taking place. The World Trade Organization (WTO) enforces Codex standards and guide-lines, and the United States must abide by WTO procedures. The proposed laws of Codex Alimentarius are overly and unnecessarily restrictive, greatly reducing consumers’ freedom to make their own informed choices. Key nutrients many of us depend on—such as amino acids, fatty acids, enzymes, and probiotics, all of them backed by solid research—are threatened. So are the future design and production of innovative nutraceuticals. Another appalling aspect is the proposed regulation to favor synthetic forms of vitamins over natural forms, the active forms that are best absorbed by the human body. You are often advised that you should simply get what you need from your diet. But, sad to say, many of us don’t eat enough fresh fruit and vegetables, much less sufficient protein or the right types of fatty acids. Folks, the most immediate threat to our health freedom is right here at home—Senate bill S.722, introduced by Richard Durbin (D-Illinois). S.722 is legislation ostensibly designed to promote "safety." However, it would instead impose excessive regulation of supplements that would drive up the costs of your nutrients and force many companies to close. The supplement industry is adequately regulated already. As you fought for and won DSHEA legislation in 1994 with an unprecedented storm of public protest, you need to fight against 8.722 now to retain your supplements. Let a victory on a national level echo around the world and send a powerful message to all those who are pushing this relentless global threat to supplements. The buck stops here. We can’t tolerate an agenda that puts profits before people’s health. Contact your senator right away. The Capitol Hill switchboard number is 202-224-3121. Ask to speak to your senator’s office, then to the staff member in charge of health-related issues. If you have access to the Internet, you can visit www.congress.org, enter your zip code, and e-mail your senator about how 8.722 has to be stopped. Please take action now. As the saying goes: The life you save may be your own Reproduced from: Journal of Longevity
